Home Care Instructions Dentures

Plaque will form on your denture just like it does on your own natural teeth. This plaque, if not removed, can cause your denture to become stained and yellow and can also cause a denture odor. Therefore it is important to clean your denture daily.

  • Clean your denture over a sink filled with water. If you should drop your denture in the sink, it will not break.
  • Rinse your denture with tap water to remove any particles that are sticking to the denture. Use cold water instead of hot, as hot water can warp your denture over time.
  • Using a moistened denture brush by itself or with a denture cleanser or denture paste, thoroughly clean all surfaces of the denture. Do not use a regular toothbrush, or toothpaste, or any other home remedies or abrasive particles, as they can scratch your denture.
  • Again, rinse your denture in cold water to remove any traces of the denture cleaners.
  • Soak your denture as recommended.
  • Clean the rest of your teeth and gums as you normally would do.
